Alan Day is a very personable individual. He takes pride in getting to know you before taking on the job. This is rare in this industry. Top Finish limited were contracted to convert a two bedroom end of terrace standard house into a three bed high spec temple home. Alan took on this challenge and provided a very high class finish. I would definitely recommend Alan and Top Finish Limited team for any project, no matter how big or small.

Living with 2 children and a dog with such a project going on is difficult but great effort was made to make the process as smooth as possible. We used Top Finish to do the complete refurbishment of our basement kitchen, dining room and patios. This involved totally gutting the area, digging down to accommodate underfloor heating, putting in steel beams to make the area open plan and all the building work, tiling, carpentry, plastering, plumbing, electrical work and painting to complete the job. They came highly recommended from our architect, who had used them previously. From the get-go, Alan was completely engaged with the plans, spotting issues that the structural engineers had missed and working helpfully and collaboratively to find areas where solutions could be improved upon and often where cost savings could be made.
Ahead of the work commencing, Alan’s team provided detailed timing and costing plans and spreadsheets that provided the basis of weekly progress meetings, so we knew exactly what to expect in terms of the work schedule, decision making needs and when payments needed to be made. Alan was regularly on site, daily throughout the start of the process and was always quick to respond on the phone.
We were living on site throughout the process, not an easy situation, but his workmen could not have been more respectful, reliable and helpful. They arrived bang on the dot at 8am every morning and worked their socks off until the end of the day.
Working on an old house, we anticipated that there might be a few unexpected nightmares. From dealing with problematic plumbing, foundations and redamp-proofing (anticipated) to the discovery of asbestos and a well (came as a surprise!), Alan had the experience and access to teams to deal with every challenge efficiently and with minimal disruption to the timetable.
Importantly, Alan’s communications with the architect, building control, the structural engineers, interior designer and kitchen company were always impeccable so that, despite all of the challenges, everything got to the (beautiful) end point as smoothly as possible.
I would highly recommend Top Finish. They are not only a safe pair of hands, but Alan has an excellent eye for detail (caught him crawling around the kitchen floor to make sure my tiling and grouting were perfect!) Our basement space is absolutely gorgeous and exceeds our expectations. A building company worth waiting for.

Alan and his team of skilled builders at Top Finish managed my flat renovation from October 2019 to January 2020. Alan delivered on everything he promised, from meeting timescales & deadlines to staying relatively within budget for the entirety of the project.
As with all building projects it is unrealistic to expect perfection and it wasn’t without it’s challenges... any issues were resolved quickly and proficiently with very little stress on my part. For complete honesty and a building company you can trust I would highly recommend using Top Finish.

Top Finish undertook a complete refurbishment of our bathroom, including plastering, tiling, flooring, fitting out, electrics and plumbing. They did a wonderful job with great attention to detail and in a short space of time. I can highly recommend Alan and his team!
