Peter Clegg - Vision21 trustee.

As a small sustainability charity we were lucky enough to recently buy an old Workshop building in St Paul’s Cheltenham to turn into our Planet Cheltenham eco-hub. It didn’t take us long to realise to have an eco build we should start from the ground up and do a rebuild.

We asked Peter for help and very soon the board of trustees came to a decision to appoint him to do the design work. Peter has incorporated all our eco-build design requirements as well as adding enormous value by suggesting better alternatives. He navigated the building through the planning process and permission was granted. Comments back from the local community were ‘will enhance the area’ and ‘this will be a lovely inviting building when completed'.

Along the way Peter presented to our Steering Group and supported us at a couple of public events, even appearing in a promo video we were making. We are very happy working with a local architect who knows local trades that will be able to do the eco-build for us.

Peter has worked with us on a couple of projects for the home, remodelling a 1950's house to create open space and a contemporary feel. He was very pleasant to work with, creating alternative plans for our consideration, and then working with our builders to successful completion. Would definitely recommend.

We worked with Peter to do some renovation work to our Georgian Grade ll Listed house. Peter listened to our thoughts and turned them into viable plan. He managed the whole process for us in a way we would not have been as able to. He responded quickly to our questions and when, post pandemic, in a world of rising costs he came up with alterative suggestions to help us keep within our budget.
If we were to undertake a building project of any kind in the future Peter would be our first point of call. We have enjoyed working with him; he is flexible in his approach and very easy to talk to.

We worked with Peter to under take a 2 storey extension on our 1930s semi-detached house in Cheltenham.
He was very helpful and knowledgeable, helping us decide on plans to maximise our budget. He secured us planning permission and helped us source builders.
He then attended regular progress meetings to ensure the plans were being followed and troubleshoot any problems. He was friendly, professional, prompt in replies and he guided us through a process we knew little about.
We would use him again for any future building projects.

Highbury Congregational Church has had Peter Designing and Project Managing several projects over the last few years. These have included:
Redesigning our dining room and the introduction of a new servery for coffee / tea in the church. The servery involved a novel design which allowed a very small area to be used without tying up space when the servery was not in use. The project involved design, contractor selection and works control during the contract period.
Replacement of several flat roof areas on the church buildings with a roofing cost approaching £100,000. This involved the selection of potential contractors, competitive tendering, tender assessment, and control during the contract period.
He has recently carried out an inspection of our premises to identify the maintenance work required and is currently helping us with contractor selection and control of the identified work.
Overall, we have been very pleased with the way all the work has been professionally carried out and particularly the interaction and involvement with the church

Peter Ireland successfully achieved a Planning Consent on our home which then undertook a significant remodelling from a 1980’s house to something contemporary with lots of insulating techniques installed, making our home completely up to date.
Thank you Peter.
